Relationships - Short and Sweet

Once again we are going to focus on "relationships." Hopefully each time we do it is from a slightly different angle or approach.

relationship >noun 1 the way in which two or more people or things are connected, or the state of being connected. 2 the way in which two or more people or groups regard and behave towards each other. 3 an emotional and sexual association between two people.

If we look at the description of the word, we are given the opportunity to reflect on what state or stage of connection all of our relationships are in. In a one-on-one intimate relationship, whether sexual, emotional or both, are both parties sharing, desiring to spend time together, communicating on about the same level of intensity. Is there an exchange and a balance? If there isn't and one person is left wanting or needing, feeling less than, or feeling abandoned, wouldn't that show us that Spirit, God, our Angels, want us to go in another direction? It is possible that what need is time for our own healing. That is still a direction Spirit wants us to go in. This doesn't mean we will never have what we want with that person, but in this moment in time, we have another place to focus our attention or energy.

That seems to be the hard part for so many of us. The acceptance of what we are being shown by Spirit. We want what we want and get so attached to it. Then when it doesn't go the way we expect it to, we wind up grieving, in pain or angry and go into a state of disillusionment or depression.

Sexual relationships with emotional connection are the most intense and definitely are at the top of our disappointment/frustration barometer. Friendships, family connections are probably next....work would follow, with social connections being last on our list of intensity.

What we are really doing when we get caught up in our relationship issues is saying that God really doesn't direct our lives. We are saying that our wants and needs are more important than God's guidance and that WE are in charge, not Spirit. Using my favorite analogy, one I am sure you are all sick of hearing, "God is driving in the front seat, and i am sitting in the back telling God how to drive." Ludicrous isn't it, and even if it is repetitive it gets right to the heart of it.

Once we can see and feel the absurdity of that analogy, we are on the way to healing and FREEDOM! We all deserve it!
